Sleeping bags are categorised by season. As a rule, single season sleeping bags are suitable for nights out under the stars on summer nights. Offering protection down to about 7 degrees Celsius, they’ll keep you wrapped up warm till morning. Two season bags will take you down to about 1 degree, whilst three season bags will comfortably see you through nights of anything up to minus 7 degrees C!

For hardier adventurers and extremists, four season expedition quality sleeping bags will cater for pretty much every eventuality. Offering protection at temperatures of minus 7 and below, you’ll be prepared for pretty much anything – and snug as the proverbial bug. (Rest assured: you’ll be impervious to bugs and the cold in one of these!)

Cowl hood fittings and weather resistant outer shells make getting to sleep under extreme conditions about as straightforward as falling off a log. And with it’s synthetic or duck down insulation, rip resist fibres and easy compress construction, your sleeping bag won’t just keep you warm, it will go on keeping you warm for years to come.

Whichever sleeping bag suits your expeditionary requirements, you’ll need mats and pillows for a really contented night’s rest. Low bulk travel pillows and roll up or blow up mattress rolls will ensure your sleeping arrangements never have to compromise your packing arrangements. Travel light and still make allowances for comfort. After all, when you’re out in the wilds, your sleeping bag and mats might just be your best friends!
